New Beginnings

I have been somewhat neglectful of this blog lately but hopefully that is all about to change.  As I mentioned a while back I have been getting the feeling that it is time for a change and while my current employer has provided me with wonderful opportunities over the past several years, I have decided that now is the time for me to forge a different path.  A while back I had created my own company in an attempt to put some order to my "hobby consulting" in order to see if I could turn that unpaid work into real opportunities, something I could dive into full time.  So as I wrap up my current responsibilities with my current employer I have been working on some new projects that I hope will provide me with the opportunity to exercise much of what I talk about on this site.  Over the coming weeks I will begin to write about these experiences as well as the challenges faced by the small business owner since I now have a very vested interest in those challenges!  Laughing

In the mean time, I am off on a weeklong vacation to enjoy technology of a different kind - air races!  This is my second trip to the National Air Races in Reno, NV where the aviation world meets NASCAR and lives by the motto "Fly low, go fast, turn left".  The incredible creativity and mechanical genius that goes into these machines is a true marvel and never ceases to amaze me.  This vacation also gives me the opportunity to do some flying of my own as I will be spending a day on each end of the trip traveling to and from the show in our plane - a slow mover by racing standards but a heck of a lot better than driving!
