Welcome

Hi, my name is Mike Cleary and this is my blog on technology, business process and the corporate environment in general.  For many years I have based my business and technology philosophy on the practical application of tools and process to solve business needs.  This means no overly bureaucratic request process or IT Governance meetings, no implementing technology just because you can but instead finding the right tooll for the job.  And let's face it, the right tool for your needs isn't always going to be the biggest, most feature rich, most expensive tool in existance - it might be but probably not always.  What you need are tools and workflow that fit your business needs along with strategic partners that share your vision and work with you to help achieve it.  I am absolutely passionate about this philosphy.  I believe you have to understand the problem you are trying to solve before assigning a technology or process to it.

I have spent the last 25 years, at various companies, being the evangelist for things such as user centered design, practical application of IT governance and a voice for aligning IT with business goals.  Along the way I have had the great pleasure of being a part of some of the most exciting and enjoyable teams building the solutions that drive business today.  I have also had the great fortune to learn from some incredibly smart individuals and with their help expand my understanding of business and technology.

In today's world IT cannot be successful without understanding the business it supports and equally important most businesses need to understand how technology can help them achieve their goals.  So I hope to share with all of you my views on how this can be achieved and continue to learn from you as well.
